Question: Describe about the Auditing Assurance Services for Trans Pacific Partnership. Answer: 1. Pseudodoxia Epidemica" is a theory of concentration on the fact of common error' the following concept was laid by Thomas Browne in the aim of laying the superstition caused during the age (Hayes et al., 2014). Browne factor which will be adopted for recognizing the theory are as follows: Earlier authority of the Author Empirical act justified by the reason. Empirical experience According to Browne, some hypothesis needs to be taken before arriving at any conclusion. Browne has conducted this theory based of same based on some facts and experience form the real life. The experiment is conducted by focusing on some empirical evidence of the research. According to Browne accounting decision should be taken by some experiment and then only it should be applicable in the industry. According to the theory, one of the common error which will be done and repetition should not occur. The manager or the supervisor can say the error to be a fraud. The error can also lead to a misconception of the accounting theory which may lead to the wrong entry of the accounts. Thomas Browne again says that before arriving at any conclusion one should look to the fact which has already taken place. In the context of auditing and accounting the fact and the concept should be first checked and then only applied (Phillips 2015). Then a justified reason should be provided before the in corporation and in the accounts. Finally, some event should be drawn which earlier resulted in the mode of a decision taken in the event which has occurred. The conclusion will be drawn in the event of incorporation of the theory in accounting and auditing. There has to be the incorporation of the scientific experiment that to after drawing some idea and conclusion of the auditing as well as accounting. Accounting theory and auditing needs are done to provide the correct solution to the financial performance of the company. Thomas Browne has conducted an experiment based on some experiment and facts of auditing and accounting which has been very helpful for many of the auditor and accountants for giving the solution to the financial performance of the company. Moreover, for arriving at the conclusion, it can be said that Browne has helped some accountant and auditor giving the solution to the problems occurring due to common errors faced by the company while assessing the results of the company (Browne et al., 2012). 2. Trust takes years to build, seconds to break and forever to fix the quoting implies trust needs a large span of time for building because it is not a cup of tea task, but trust can be easily broken by easily broken by anyone in a couple of second. So, one should be careful in breaking the trust of a person. Trust is the fact of ethical and morality so it should be done on the by looking to the carefully (Trieloff Buys 2013). As being a human being, it is the responsibility of an individual, not to break trust either in the personal life or the professional life. Sometimes breaking of trust is said to be a fraud done in an organization if it is related to the ethicality of the company. It is observed that relationship between audit and management are working in parallel to each other, and sometimes it is even depended on each other. The relationship of the managers and auditors has number of functions to be fulfilled for the organizations which are as follows: Management will help in the development of the framework and audit will be maintaining adequacy and effectiveness in the framework of the management (Moroney et al., 2014). Management will be implementing the risk of a framework, whereas, an audit will be implementing the risk of the management framework. On the operated integration of the business, management will be getting advice and auditors will be taking risk and role of the management. Management is providing advice on the accountability for control and risk with allocation. Whereas, the auditors supervises the task of the managers for the proper fulfillment of the duties and responsibilities (Callen Fang 2016). The board and the management are getting the suggestion from the internal management of data relating to the management's risk. Similarly, auditing is providing the assurance of the independent in the risk management factor. Management is providing updates related to risk and performance to a board of audit. Audit checks the reliability, relevance, and credibility of data which will be provided by the managers of the board. Management is acting as an advisor and mentor for the company. Auditors are the reviewer in helping the assurance which will be based on the capacity and rating of management. Functions of the audit and manager are reported to one single authority, who is presenting a combined report to the board. Managers and the auditor have to work hand in hand so that the organization is running its operations properly. Both of them will be reporting to a single manager so that neither of the works is getting judged in the factor of governance (Zadek et al., 2013). The factor of governance explained above for the purpose of distinction in management and audit. Cultural factor stands as a point of making the comparison of both the department. In the management department line, managers are the ultimate person for delivering and performing the companies' outcomes. The auditors are the person for the maintenance of ethical issues about the company's accounting. Managements person is responsible for over viewing the operation of the company for the maximization of wealth and profit of the company. An auditor observes the factor which is needed for running the organization. Management and auditors are the most important person of the company, who will be responsible for performing the core task of the company (Dhaliwal et al., 2015). 3. Martin Shkreli was born at New York, the United States on April 1, 1983. Martin's parents Albanian and Croatian were working as the immigrant of Janitors. Martin is former CEO and founder of "Turing Pharmaceuticals" as well as co-founder of the hedge fund "MSMB Capital Management as the entrepreneur and corporate executive live streamer. In the year 2015, during the September, when Turing received the license for manufacturing of "antiparasitic drug Daraprim this lead to increase in the price with 5556%, from 13.5-750 $ US. Due to this Martin Shkreli received a large criticism and he was named as Most hated man in America by media. In the year 2006, Marlin worked as the analyst in "Intrepid Capital Management and UBS Wealth Management and after that, he opened his hedge fund as "Elea Capital Management. In 2007, Marlin was sued in the New York court because he failed to cover the put option transaction in which Marlin had quoted the incorrect process for broadening the line of th e market. In the year 2014, Marlin was CEO of Retrophin, in which his employees were using the alias of Twitter accounts for producing "gangster rap jokes" as well as encouragement, was done for the short selling of Biotech in another stock. In 2015, December Marlin was arrested for getting sued as frauds in securities, and he was sued after the investigation of duration in his tenure of MSMB Capital Management (Yang Jia 2013). Due to which he was terminated from the post of CEO in Kalo Bios Pharmaceutical. Marlin was getting accused of running the "Ponzi like Scheme. Marlin was advertising the short position for doing investment on the website as "Seeking Alpha" in which he was encouraging the other for going through that lead. In Washington, there was an occurrence of another problem of citizenship responsibility and ethicality. There was research conducted by the non profit organization on the action of MSMB. After that inquiry was conducted on by SEC and the Department of Jus tice by the USA for the investigation made the allegation to Marlin, on this matter SEC and justice department did not agree. Any evidence was not found by both the spokesman and the formal probe. In the debate, the matter related to the short selling of the topic which was general, Marlin was one of the better antagonists. In June 2011 he was going to present to FDA for which his appeal to the subject was known, i.e., Navidea Biopharmaceuticals." Navidea's stock was decreased to $ 3.29 with 33% in a month by July 2011; This was an example of the proposes suspicious made on the exchange of Biotechs stock which warrants tiresome investigation (Rimmer 2015). 4. If I had eight hours to chop down a tree, Id spend six hours sharpening my ax. It was said by Abraham Lincoln. According to him, this statement means that says before conducting a work one must properly understand the rules, regulations, applicability, do's and don'ts. But in the accounting concept the sentence says that before applying the concepts, theory and standards in the accounts, one must properly aware. So before arriving at any conclusion, one must be fully capable of all the rules and regulation of the concerned accounting. The accounting theories and concept must be clear so that there are no obstacles while the preparation of the financial statements. As per Lincoln, the accounts are the core root of any business so all the concepts should be clear on the minds of the accountant (Carson et al., 2014). A small misconception in the rules of the accounting may lead to huge loss of the accounting system. He further says that an accountant is a person who engages in the op eration of conducting the financial operation of the business. Misconception in the account may lead to issues which will be unethical in the accounting concept. Auditors are the who is responsible for doing the rectification and auditing process of the accounts. Auditing is very much necessary in each and every organization. Auditing of account helps an investor to analyze the originality of the performance as given in the financial statement (Porter et al., 2014). Auditing has numerous advantage which is it helps in assessing the capital market of the public limited company. The satisfaction level of the auditing must be achieved as it is the compulsion laid by the official authority of the business. Unless and until auditing of the company is done it is not marked as a safe category for the purpose of investment. Auditing helps in lowering value of the cost of capital which further helps in reducing the information related to a risk of the company (Messier 2016). If there is any fraud conducted by the employees of the company that will also be known with the help of auditing. The ineffectiveness of the accounting employee can lead to a decrease in the performance of the company. Auditing further helps in improvement and controlling of the operations done by the accounts department (Wang et al., 2013). If there is an independent auditor that will help in giving a correct decision related to the company. Instead of having many advantages there are many disadvantages in Auditing. The auditors are not the direct person for taking decision-related to money from starting to end. The frame works of the bookkeeping are impediments which are born because of the confirmation of the supplier which puts forward an additional dependency. All the audit confirmation are convincing rather than enticing. Confirmed suppliers will not be testing the whole portion of the topic (Furnham Gunter 2015). The auditor can help in getting an intentional escape and plotting in extorti on for the related reason by the staff and its customer. An arrangement of the affirmation can be subjective as well as proficient in making any judgments. Providers of the certificates are depended on the responsibility of the person and the staff should be given information which is relevant and correct. Restrictions can be done on the people who are providing the confirmation because of some reason. The company is providing an audited statement to its shareholder, gains confidence of the investor easily. Auditing of the financial statement has been made compulsion in many of the authorities of accounting (Millichamp Taylor 2012). Reference List Browne, T., van Hove, F. Improvement Plan OPS 571 April 22, 2013 Richard Franchetti, Facilitator Process Improvement Plan In week one of this class, I was tasked to design a flowchart for a process in my daily life that I can improve. I chose my morning routine before work. My goal is to get out of the house by 7:38am Monday-Friday in order to catch my bus for work at 7:41am. I have trouble keeping track of time, usually missing the bus about one time every two weeks. I have discovered through the flowchart in week one, that my entire process has serious flaws. All of the bottlenecks were identified and improved upon as necessary. After collecting data over the past four weeks, I see changes in the process, using time as the metric. This paper will display the data that has been collected, as well as the calculations for the control limits, discuss the effect of the seasonal factors, and discuss the confidence intervals and their usefulness. We will write a custom essay sample on Ops or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Control Limits Control limits are an easy way to find out if something is statistically wrong with a process. There are upper and lower control limits for every process. If the data in the sample falls outside of either of the two limits, this usually means that there is a problem with the process. Control limits help to assure quality (Ehow: How To Calculate Upper And Lower Control Limits, 2013). If for some reason, any data points were to fall outside of the control limits, we could use statistical process control to analyze the procedures that are used and make improvements as necessary. In order to calculate my control limits, I had to first collect data for each workday in weeks 1-4. Table 1 (see below) shows all of the data that was collected in the past four weeks. Table 1: Data Collected (in mins. ) | |Week 1 |Week 2 |Week 3 |Week 4 | |Monday |70 |70 |65 |65 | |Tuesday |71 |70 |65 62 | |Wednesday |70 |64 |65 |65 | |Thursday |68 |60 |66 |60 | |Friday |70 |69 |70 |59 | |Weekly Total |349 |333 |331 |311 | |(in mins. | | | | | |Weekly Average |69. 8 |66. 6 |66. 2 |62. 2 | |(in mins. ) | | | | | Another important concept in statistical process control is standard deviation. Standard deviation helps us figure out how much variation from the average is present in a sample. In my particular example, each week varied with how quickly I got dressed and out of the house to make my bus. My mornings are usually very standard and routine. The time variation in my data comes from how much I prepare the night before, as well as how long I decide to shower in the morning. The standard deviation is necessary is order to calculate the upper and lower control limits. The control limits simply state that as long as the process is within three standard deviations of the average (either way), than the process is still at acceptable quality. My specific control limits were calculated as follows: [pic] pic] [pic] [pic] [pic] The first four tables are the weekly breakdown of all of the data that was collected throughout the last four weeks. The final table calculates the upper and lower control limits for the entire sample. Since I wake up every day at 6:30am and must leave the house by 7:40am, I have 70 minutes total to complete all of my tasks in the morning. According to my calculations on the final table, I need to leave the house anywhere between 7:34am and 7:39am. Doing so means that I have made my bus and my process has been a success for the day. Seasonal Factors Seasonal factors are defined as ââ¬Å"the amount of correction needed in a time series to adjust for the season of the yearâ⬠(Chase, Jacobs, Aquilano, 2006, Chapter 13). The word seasonal does not always mean weather. Seasonal in business terms is usually classified as an activity of some sort. In my situation, I donââ¬â¢t have any seasonal factors that can affect my morning routine. My husband has already left the house and I am alone in a stable environment (my home). Confidence Intervals Confidence intervals allow us to pinpoint data to a degree of confidence. The intervals are used to estimate the reliability of an estimate. Usually, the confidence levels that are calculated are 90%, 95%, and 99%. The confidence intervals for my particular situation are as follows: |Confidence Intervals |Lower Confidence Interval (mins. ) |Upper Confidence Interval (mins. ) | |90% |63. 989 |68. 411 | |95% |63. 023 |69. 77 | |99% |52. 41 |79. 999 | In other words, I am 90% confident that my morning routine will take between 64-68 minutes, 95% confident that my morning routine will take between 63-69 minutes, and I am 99% confident that my morning routine will take between 52-80 minutes. Conclusion After spending the last 5 weeks revising my entire morning routine, I believe that I have found a process that will help me better meet my goal of ot missing the bus before work. I put controls in place to set expectations for my process. Organizations can use controls the same way. Statistical process control helps managers ensure quality. They can analyze and improve any processes that are not living up to the expectation. Arc of Justice Research Essay Example
Arc of Justice Research Essay Example Arc of Justice Research Essay Arc of Justice Research Essay Arc of Justice In the book, Arc of Justice, the stage is set in the growing city of Detroit in 1925. The racial tension during this time was extremely high, with the Jim Crow laws and segregation of whites and blacks. The setting is perfect for Ossian Sweet to move into an all-white neighborhood, cause a disruption, and begin a domino-effect of events causing him to have an important part in our nationââ¬â¢s history. The book begins with Ossian and Gladys Sweet, an African-American couple, just buying their first house. This was a common event for many people during this time period, but what was so uncommon about the Sweetsââ¬â¢ home was the neighborhood their new house was in. The house on Garland Avenue was on an all-white street, in an all-white neighborhood. Ossian Sweetââ¬â¢s parents were practicing members of the African Methodist Epsicopal Church (a. k. a AME). Ossian grew up with this faith, which encouraged members to go to school and get a higher education. Sweetââ¬â¢s parents followed that and encouraged their son to go on to college, which Ossian did. He moved away from his family in Florida and went to Wilberforce, an all-black college in Ohio, to pursue a career as a doctor. Ossian and Gladys, after getting married, take a year-long trip to Paris. In Paris it is extremely obvious that there are no Jim Crow laws, like there were in the United States. The Sweetsââ¬â¢ arenââ¬â¢t looked down upon because of their skin color by Parisians; they are treated like anybody else. ââ¬Å"Simple courtesies that in the United States he would never have received: thatââ¬â¢s what Ossian remembered from his springtime in Paris. (132) Returning to the US, to where they would go right back to being treated like inferiors, wasnââ¬â¢t easy for the Sweetsââ¬â¢. Yet, Ossian was proud of his line of work and in Paris he had learned much more. He wanted to defy the Jim Crow laws and wanted to be treated like any other doctor, to live where other doctors live. Ossian and Gladys Sweet wouldnââ¬â¢t settle for a house in Black Bottom, whic h was the area in Detroit where many migrants from the South had no choice but to live. This was during the Harlem Renaissance; thousands of African-American families were looking for places to live. Landlords in Detroit knew this and they increased the prices on homes because they knew the desperate black families would be forced to pay such high prices. These homes were disgusting inside and families barely had enough room to move around. Therefore the Sweetsââ¬â¢ decided that was no place for them and they were going to search outside the ghettos of Detroit until they found a nice house- suitable for a doctor- to live in. The small act of them buying the house on Garland caused anger to many of the white families living on that street. During this era the simple presence of just one black family on that street could drive the property value of all the neighboring homes down. ââ¬Å"And everyone knew that when the color line was breeched, housing values would collapse, spinning downward until Garland Avenue was swallowed into the ghetto and everything was lost. â⬠(17) The people living on this street werenââ¬â¢t exactly the ââ¬Å"eliteâ⬠of Detroit, so the fact that they were white was the only thing keeping them out of the inner city. During the 1920ââ¬â¢s, black people lived in the inner city and white people lived on the outside of town. These white families would do whatever it took to get the Sweets to leave, in order to save their neighborhood. The police of Detroit were aware that a black family was moving into a house in an all-white neighborhood, and they knew that the white-families werenââ¬â¢t going to be welcoming of these newcomers. The first two nights the Sweets lived on Garland Ave, there were police officers stationed outside their house to protect them from potential mobs. The first night a mob formed, but they went home eventually. The second night, however, did not end so well. A mob formed again, this time though they began to throw stones at the Sweets home and one smashed through a window. The men upstairs shot into the crowd in an attempt to save the house. These officers turned the other cheek on the white families who began to harass the Sweets, their friends, and their family. Itââ¬â¢s obvious that the police officers assigned to defend these poor people didnââ¬â¢t do their job, since the Sweetââ¬â¢s felt so threatened they ended up shooting two people- one fatally. This is, of course, the very event that made Ossian Sweetââ¬â¢s name go down in history. Ossian, his wife, and the other people in his house were arrested and taken to jail for murder, or instead for a clear act of self-defense. Henry Sweet, Ossianââ¬â¢s brother, ended up admitting to shooting during the police interrogation. Clarence Darrow heard about their case. Darrow was a very famous lawyer at the time; he had just been the defense attorney for the Scopes trial earlier that year and he agreed to take their case. The head of the NAACP, James Weldon Johnson, also heard about the trial; he knew that this case would be huge in gaining civil rights for African-Americans, especially since Clarence Darrow was defending them. Johnson decided the NAACP would help to fund the Sweet trial and support them all the way. Darrow questioned dozens and dozens of potential jurors, making sure they were perfect candidates- the right job, the right religion, even the right gender. He would dismiss them if they didnââ¬â¢t meet his qualifications. Since there were so many men on trial he had about 300 jurors at his disposal to search through and find the right people. Darrow needed the perfect jury in order to make sure these people werenââ¬â¢t charged with murder when they were only defending their house and themselves. Gladys had been released on bail after just a few days in jail, but the other nine men were on trial. After a long four weeks, with lots of fighting on between Darrow and Hays, the prosecutionââ¬â¢s lawyer, the jury came to a decision. Five of the men, all of them but Ossian, Henry, and Leonard, would be acquitted of murder. The jurors couldnââ¬â¢t come to a unanimous decision about the other three. The judge declared the first trial a mistrial. There was then a second trial to decide Henry Sweetââ¬â¢s fate. The jury declared Henry not guilty. Since the trial was success, the NAACP held a convention to celebrate. They had many things they hoped to challenge, in hopes of black people gaining civil rights, one of which was challenging the Jim Crow laws. ââ¬Å"Prejudice was still a mighty force, but its decline had already begun, and in time it would be defeated. (337) The NAACP starting working on their Legal Defense Fund, which was made possible by the Ossian Sweet trials, and trying their best to ban Jim Crow laws. Unfortunately, Ossian Sweet committed suicide after his wife died and never saw the end result of the movement that he had helped to start. The Sweet trials helped to start the NAACPââ¬â¢s success in breaking down the Jim Crow laws and start the civil rights movement. Through the suc cess of the trials and with the help of Clarence Darrow, the Sweets helped to start the desegregation of one of the racially tense countries in America.

Career Spotlight What I Do as an Office Manager
Career Spotlight What I Do as an Office Manager tell us a little about who you are, your current position, and how long youââ¬â¢ve been at it.my name is catherine. i am an office manager at realmatch, and iââ¬â¢ve been here about 2 months! à i have a passion for organization, crafting, event planning, and disney movies. i currently have 3 cats, all rescues, and hope to foster pets someday as well. here are some great career options for cat lovers.what drove you to choose your career path?coincidence! my career path started way back in high school when my mom noticed her accountant scrambling in the middle of tax season. she asked them if they needed help, and i went in for an interview. i became an assistant/bookkeeper there and stayed until halfway through college. i then worked at my dadââ¬â¢s law office and an advertising company as an assistant before finally becoming an office manager here at realmatch.how did you go about getting your job? what kind of education and experience did you need?i had a bachelorââ¬â¢ s degree in media studies- but a college degree isnââ¬â¢t necessary to be an assistant, even though itââ¬â¢s preferred. to become an office manager, i needed at least 2-3 years of experience as an assistant, and i had about 8! i learned something different in each position i held, and it all came together to make me the perfect candidate for realmatch.what steps do you need to take to start a career as an office manager?the best way to become an office manager is to begin as an assistant and work your way up. if you need to get your foot in the door, i recommend networking and asking around. get the word out that you are looking for a position as an assistant, and itââ¬â¢s very likely that someoneââ¬â¢s motherââ¬â¢s lawyer needs a helping hand at his or her office. a personal connection is always very helpful for getting an interview. luckily, almost every office needs an assistant of some kind. if you want to learn everything about getting a job as an administrative assistant, check out this useful article job spotlight: administrative assistant.from there, you can advance to nearly any position because you will be exposed to all the different departments within the company. for me, the natural evolution from being an assistant was to become an office manager, because i enjoyed all the various tasks i was given.did you need any licenses or certifications?a college degree is always encouraged. in new york city everyone takes the train, but i can see a driverââ¬â¢s license and car being a requirement in other cities/states because there can be some running around involved with the job.becoming a notary public can also be helpful. you will become a valuable asset for your bosses if they can go to you for a notarization instead of finding time in their busy day to go out and find one.itââ¬â¢s important to set the rules and explain to people what youââ¬â¢re expected to help with and what you can do only if your other required tasks are don e.what kinds of things do you do beyond what most people see? what do you actually spend the majority of your time doing?i spend a lot more time thinking and researching things than most people would think. sometimes a thought on how to improve the office will come about and iââ¬â¢ll ponder it, trying to find out if it could work. other times, someone will make a suggestion on how to improve the office or their job, and iââ¬â¢ll take the idea and run with it. iââ¬â¢ll do some research and get in contact with companies to get pricing before bringing it to the managers for their input. usually most decisions come down to budget, so itââ¬â¢s always helpful to have a ballpark on pricing beforehand.what misconception do people often have about your job?within the office, people often have the misconception that itââ¬â¢s your job to do everything they donââ¬â¢t want to do. this can range from cleaning up everyoneââ¬â¢s mess around the office to tackling their ââ¬Å"t o doâ⬠list items they donââ¬â¢t enjoy. itââ¬â¢s extremely important to speak with your manager and see what he or she expects fromà you. it can become very easy to get bogged down with menial tasks that are not necessarily required of you. itââ¬â¢s important to set the rules and explain to people what youââ¬â¢re expected to help with and what you can do only if your other required tasks are done.find a need within your company, and work to fill itanother misconception that a lot of people have is that the job is really easy and anyone can do it. in actuality, itââ¬â¢s much more complex than people think. the tasks themselves arenââ¬â¢t necessarily difficult- itââ¬â¢s juggling all the tasks at once while staying within budget and being efficient thatââ¬â¢s a challenge.at my last job, i was doing a walkthrough with a rep from a moving company to get a quote, and about four different people approached me with questions while i was speaking to him. i had to politely advise them that i was handling something at the moment while also needing to listen to the rep and remember who needed what so that after the meeting, i could address it. itââ¬â¢s really easy to lose your concentration, so it very important to stay on task and organized.what are your average work hours?my current hours are 9am ââ¬â 6pm. this is probably a typical workday for most office managers, but there may be certain offices that work later or prefer you come in before everyone else. most days i only work the 9 hours, but if a big project comes up, i may have to stay a few extra hours or check my email inbox diligently.what personal tips and shortcuts have made your job easier?i strive for efficiency. when things get hectic, i need to be able to get tasks done quickly and accurately. the first step i take is to organize everything within the office. spending a quiet afternoon organizing is definitely worth it in the long run. if someone asks where the staples are, i know exactly where to lead them. in addition, i love to label everything. this way, if someone suspects an item is in a particular closet, they can open the door, look at the labels, and find the item without me.i also love to use evernote to track my tasks. the software can do so much! i have tons of different to-do lists, both for work and my personal life. if iââ¬â¢m working on something and suddenly ââ¬Å"oh yea, i have to pick up the dry cleaning at some pointâ⬠comes to mind, iââ¬â¢ll quickly switch to my personal to-do list and jot that down. itââ¬â¢s really helpful to clear your mind so that you can focus on the task at hand instead of wondering how youââ¬â¢re going to remember to do that after work. you can also create different notebooks, which i doà for events that are coming up. you can paste links, add website snippets, and so much more!i also find itââ¬â¢s better to get quicker tasks done immediately upon receiving them so i donââ¬â¢t have them in the back of my mind while working or end up forgetting to do them. if i am at a pause point within a big project, i will stop and get a smaller task out of the way. this not only makes my life easier, but it makes the person who requested it really happy!what do you do differently from your coworkers or peers in the same profession? what do they do instead?sometimes when people are not monitoring you, or when you help a lot of different departments, it can be easy to fly under the radar with tasks. oftentimes, people love when they can get paid to do as little as possible. for me, i prefer to be busy than to be relaxing- it makes the time pass more quickly! also, the more you do, the more likely you will be to get a promotion or a raise. if your boss asks the other managers within your company what they think about you when it comes to review time, you want to have as many people as possible giving you glowing reviews. if you plan to ask for a promotion, having everyone backing you up and singing your praises can only help you get the job.whatââ¬â¢s the worst part of the job and how do you deal with it?somehow, my days usually end up being either super quiet or crazy busy. i can have nothing major to do all day, then at the last minute three things come up that need attention right away. or there will be a week when everyoneââ¬â¢s on vacation and i struggle to find things to do, but the next week they get back and i become so busy, i have to force myself to take a break to get lunch.i deal with it by trying to do things ahead of time. if i know i need to prepare for a new hire that wonââ¬â¢t be coming for another 2 weeks but i am free now, i will get as much done as possible so that iââ¬â¢m not overwhelmed if a big project comes in the next week. sometimes iââ¬â¢m so efficient that i surprise myself. iââ¬â¢ve had times where i thought ââ¬Å"uh oh, i forgot to do this!â⬠only to realize that i completed it the week before in anticipation of the deadline. at those moments, i always smile to myself and think ââ¬Å"good job!â⬠and realize that is what others must like about me as well.if your boss asks the other managers within your company what they think about you when it comes to review time, you want to have as many people as possible giving you glowing reviews.whatââ¬â¢s the most enjoyable part of the job?getting to talk to and meet new people. when i was in school, i would get in trouble for chit-chatting with people when i was supposed to be quiet. i love that now i can go over to people when thereââ¬â¢s a lull and get to know them. itââ¬â¢s especially helpful for new hires, because theyââ¬â¢re usually quiet and shy. itââ¬â¢s great to talk to them and get to know them before everyone else and see how much they grow and all the new friends they make at the office.what is an unexpected skill an office manager needs to have?i think having a friendly relationship with the people yo u work with is important as an office manager. i love to be approachable, this way people know that if they have any questions or concerns, they can come to me. you can find out a lot of information about everyone, ranging from office gossip to their feelings about the environment of the company.itââ¬â¢s extremely important to use another critical skill, discretion, to decide what to do with this information. is it suspected that two coworkers have started dating, and there is no policy going against it? keep it to yourself. do people reveal they feel overworked and under-appreciated day after day? suggest to management that since people have been working hard, a treat to say ââ¬Å"thank youâ⬠may be in order. by using your social skills, you can possibly prevent a small issue (like people feeling unappreciated) from becoming a big one (like half a department quitting).what kind of money can one expect to make at your job? or, whatââ¬â¢s an average starting salary?an off ice managerââ¬â¢s salary can be between $27k and $100k. since thatââ¬â¢s a huge range, itââ¬â¢s really important to take a few factors into effect to determine what is accurate. where you live will usually be the biggest determinant, followed by your experience, the office size, and the industry youââ¬â¢re working in.if you are curious, check out the expected salary from spotlight: administrative assistant.how do you ââ¬Å"move upâ⬠in your field?the best way to move up is to work hard, always offer to help, and be someone that people can rely on. i also believe owning up to mistakes is always better than trying to hide them. if you offer a solution to your mistake and can fix it, thatââ¬â¢s even better.find a need within your company, and work to fill it. create a list of the steps youââ¬â¢ll need to take to accomplish the goals, and create a timeline. if you have a list of deadlines for the goals you wish to accomplish, itââ¬â¢s much easier to track. whe n the date you set for yourself comes up, you can ask questions like ââ¬Å"am i on track with what i wished to achieve?â⬠if the answer is no, figure out where your plan derailed and to get back on track. when itââ¬â¢s time to evaluate your professional growth, you can show your manager the goals you had and the steps you took to achieve them. always keep notes of your biggest accomplishments.à when it is review time a year later, it can become difficult to remember all the things youââ¬â¢ve done!before creating your resume and applying to jobs, think about the tasks you enjoy doing most. highlight those in your resume and look for jobs that match your skills.what do people under/over value about what you do?i think they undervalue the level of organization required. it takes effort to create a routine to know exactly when to order which items so that youââ¬â¢re not overflowing from the cabinets or bone dry. i feel that most people donââ¬â¢t understand everythin g an office manager does until they are not around. when i get back from vacation, everyone tells me how they missed me and how much i am appreciated!as for overvaluing, i find it a bit comical when someone tells me iââ¬â¢m a lifesaver because i told them where the staples are, but i do appreciate their gratitude.what advice would you give to those aspiring to join your profession?before creating your resume and applying to jobs, think about the tasks you enjoy doing most. highlight those in your resume and look for jobs that match your skills. take into account the work environment of a company and your personality and try to find something that suits you.for instance, i love start-ups because they are always changing and conversation is encouraged. i donââ¬â¢t feel that i would thrive in a super corporate environment where my hours must be billable and i had to stay at my desk. above all, always try to keep a positive outlook, no matter what is happening. if you start to fee l frustrated, take a breath, step away for a moment, and come back with fresh eyes and a clear mind.are you ready? The Development of the Scientific Management Theory Research Paper - 1
The Development of the Scientific Management Theory - Research Paper Example The researcher states that the most of individuals think that the basic motives of employers and employees are essentially opposed. In contrast, scientific management has for its core groundwork the strong belief that the genuine objects of the two are inseparable - that wealth for the employer cannot be sustained in the long run unless it is attended with the wealth for the employee and that it is doable to grant the employee what s/he most desires and the employer what s/he desires for his/her production. Thus, it is unquestionable that the influential and most contentious contribution to the development of management theory was the theory and practice of scientific management by Frederick Winslow Taylor, that was a main focus of the analysis and was presented in the essay. The principles of scientific management remain in vogue in large numbers of companies in the US. However, this is not similar to the scientific management pioneered by Frederick Taylor. Over the years, these man agement principles have been modified and the outdated components have been eliminated. This capacity to adjust has been helpful in the continued existence of the fundamental premises of scientific management, where remain numerous deliberations about its fundamental rules in contemporary management theory. This is due to the fact that these fundamental principles remain vital, present-day managers still applying them. Hence, the issues have numerous spectators. Scientific management survives and will stay alive for a hundred years or so.
